Asst. Prof. Dr. Ercan KOC

Ercan Koç was born in 1962 in Erzincan. He completed his primary education at Gürsel Primary School in Şişli, his secondary education at 50th Year Secondary School in Bolu, and his high school education at Kabataş High School in Istanbul. He graduated in 1986 from the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of Yıldız Technical University. He received his master’s degree in Urban Planning in 1989 and his PhD in 1998 from the same university.

He obtained the titles of architect in 1986 and master architect and urban planner in 1989. He began his academic career in 1987 as a research assistant at Yıldız Technical University. Between 1998 and 2005, he worked as a lecturer with a PhD, and since 2005 he has been serving as an assistant professor.

Throughout his academic and professional career, he has conducted studies in the fields of urban planning, urban transformation, tourism planning, and post-disaster spatial analysis. He has published articles in international peer-reviewed journals and presented papers at international conferences. His work particularly focuses on the relationship between earthquakes and urban planning, tourism development strategies, and coastal area planning.

Koç is a member of the Chamber of Architects and the Chamber of City Planners and continues his academic work at the Department of City and Regional Planning at Yıldız Technical University.
